Limit Texas Holdem Pre-Flop

An effective pre-flop limit texas holdem hand is very important. There are several factors to consider in the selection of a pre-flop playing hand.

One factor is the tightness of the game. When there are only about 2 or 3 players involved in the flop to see it and fold immediately after, we may say that we have a tight game going on. A tight game like this we seldom get to the river play because no player is left in the pot. With a hand not really strong for a tight game, a player should fold, even if the player is a skilled one.

When the starting hands are not that strong, we need to be in a lose game. Seeing the flop is a big possibility for most players in a loose game and many players are able to remain in the hand a long time. With loose games we can play several hands and actually play about 25 percent of them. But this is not to say that hand selection is just an option. Even in a loose game, we have to choose the best hand possible pre-flop.

A limit Texas Holdem important consideration is to know how many are still in the pot. Drawing hands are possible when more players are able to see the flop. Draw hands like suited connectors 7 and 6 or even smaller pocket pairs tend to improve with multi-way pots. For instance, when playing shorthanded limit poker with six or less, high cards improve considerably. Low kickers partnered with aces may be possible. Poker hands like AT, QT, or KT, in full ring games may lessen their performance when reduced to being trap hands. Trap hands produce hands that are merely second best.

As more players are in the pot it enlarges. With a hand as mentioned—a suited 7 and 6—we can call pre-flop, or even with small pocket pairs, if we expect at least 6 players in the pot. Whereas, if there are just 2 to 3, the same hands will not help us should we decide to join the players in the pot. In case somebody else raised pre-flop, a strong playing hand is ideal to use for calling. We can also use the same to have a big pot. But in middle position with should know better than call a raise with a mere unsuited AJ or KQ.

Pre-flop hand tactics in limit Texas Holdem poker should consider several table and play factors.
